XXX – 9 Strange Sex Laws – XXX

Few subjects are as complicated as human sexuality. Things can get even more complicated when courts introduce laws to regulate or criminalize certain sexual activities. Several cities throughout the United States have some really bizarre laws prohibiting certain sex acts or criminalizing particular sexual behaviors.

Some of these laws have been on the books for decades while others were introduced more recently. Examining a few of these weird laws provides a unique insight into the strange ways that people try to deal with human sexuality.

 

Seriously Strange Sex Laws

Some of these weird sex laws seem to have been designed to enforce a standard of morality. Some others are so bizarre that it’s unclear how or why they were created. No matter why they were enacted, these laws can be funny, confusing or shocking. A few examples:

  1. It is illegal to have sex with a live fish in Minnesota. Interestingly, attempting sex with a dead fish doesn’t seem to be against the law.
  2. San Antonio, Texas prohibits flirtation. Using the hands or eyes to engage in flirtation is against the law.
  3. In Utah, having sex with an animal for profit is illegal. However, the act seems to be legal if profit is left out of the situation.
  4. Our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., forbids any sexual position other than the missionary position.
  5. Idaho has a weird law that criminalizes public kissing that lasts for more than 18 minutes. It’s unclear why 18 minutes is considered the limit for an acceptable public kissing session.
  6. Anniston, Alabama has a law that makes it illegal for a woman who loses a pool game to repay the bet with sexual favors.
  7. Alabama has more than one strange sex law. Sex toys of all kinds are prohibited throughout the state.
  8. Having sex with a rodeo clown while horses are in the area is strictly against the law in Massachusetts.
  9. According to a really odd law, having sex with Satan in Bakersfield, California is only legal if a condom is used.

Why Were These Strange Sex Laws Created?

It’s not clear how strictly these sex laws are enforced or to what extent law enforcement will go to prosecute people who break these laws. It’s possible that some of these laws were passed in response to an event that actually occurred.
